"Our
diamond turning facility compliments the coatings service
that we provide. We can offer complex plastic components
coated with hard wearing, plasma Ion assisted thin film optical processes."
Iain Clement, Head of Diamond Machining
A few important features
- High volume and bespoke capabilities
- Sub-wavelength accuracy
- Low scatter levels
- Aspeheric optical services
Capability
The diamond turning facility enables Siltint to manufacture
complex optical components in prototype or volume quantities,
providing fast delivery for applications where "off
the shelf" products do not suffice. This utilizes
state-of-the-art single point diamond turning technology
allowing us to machine any rotationally symmetric surface
with sub-wavelength accuracy and extremely low scatter
levels. For example, typical accuracy on an acrylic
surface would be 0.3um form error and 10nm roughness
(Ra), or on an aluminium surface 0.2um form error and
as low as 6nm roughness.
In addition, with its range of high vacuum coating
equipment Siltint has the in-house capacity to enhance
diamond turned lenses with anti-reflection and beamsplitter
coatings as well as resin hardcoating for surface protection.
Surface protection and additional mirror finishes can
be provided on aluminium parts.
