Siltint Industries is the UK's
leading independent ophthalmic coating company. Established
in 1972, it supplies advanced lens coatings for the
ophthalmic profession and industry and, since the late
1980's, has specialised in thin film deposition processes
for the precision optical and opto-electronic industries.
Ophthalmic
Siltint's ophthalmic
expertise is concentrated on supplying a wide range
of anti-reflection and colour coating services to manufacturing
and high street opticians. With its own research and
development facilities, it is able to supply an extensive
range of high quality products, designed to meet all
ophthalmic coating requirements, complemented by a speedy
and efficient service.
Siltint operates state-of-the-art
equipment including several Leybold and Balzers vacuum
box coaters including the unique Advanced Plasma Source
deposition system, as well as a Leybold CCS250 and Satis
diffusion pumped bell coaters. Lens cleaning is by an
eight tank Kerry and other ultrasonic cleaning lines.
Test equipment includes spectrophotometers measuring
in the visible and infrared spectrum.
Siltint provides the most comprehensive
range of coating products for the ophthalmic industry.
This includes several type of Reflection Free coatings
for plastic, polycarbonate and glass lenses, an unlimited
Colour Tints range for plastic lenses, Sunglass Tints
with UV filters, fashionable Silver, Gold, Blue and
Gunmetal Mirrors for sunglasses with new Dark Brown
and Dark Grey sunglass coatings for polycarbonate lenses,
Special Filters for Ultra Violet protection, VDU and
other specialist use and Thermal Toughening of glass
lenses to standard and industrial specifications.

With in-house design,
production
and test facilities,
Siltint are well established to provide a comprehensive
service, from advice on design to full scale production.
As well as standard e-beam evaporation
techniques, Siltint can offer the latest plasma ion-assisted
deposition technology (APS). This low temperature technology
offers coatings on substrates from plastic to glass
with superior environmental resistance.
