| Siltint move pays off - 9/6/2003 |
Precision optical and coatings specialist, Siltint Industries, reports that its move to bigger, customised premises eighteen months ago is paying dividends in a competitive market.
Managing Director, Gerry Biggs, said: Our new facility has enabled us to become even more customer focussed. We are now seeing the advantages of a custom-designed workflow. This reduces the movement of substrates to increase efficiency and provide a quicker turnaround for our JIT customers. We now have the space for additional back-up equipment, enabling scheduled maintenance with reduced impact on production. Quality has been further enhanced thanks to an enclosed climate controlled clean-room area covering all processes.
Siltint had literally outgrown its old premises, but now has space for expansion into new technology. Diamond turning is housed in its own dedicated area, with the capacity to turn aspheric lenses and parabolic mirrors up to a maximum diameter of 250mm. There is also extra room for additional QC and testing areas, particularly necessary for high durability plasma assisted coatings.
2003 will be a very important year for us, said Gerry Biggs. We see tremendous potential for our full range of services across a number of industries including telecommunications, aerospace and the medical sector. |
